Mistrzostwa Sześciu Narodów w rugby to najważniejsze wydarzenie w kalendarzu Związku Rugby na Półkuli Północnej. Jest to najważniejsza międzynarodowa impreza sportowa i ulubione wydarzenie fanów sportu w całej Europie. Oto sześć ciekawostek na temat rugby Six Nations.

Mistrzostwa Sześciu Narodów w rugby zastąpiły turniej Five Nations w 2000 roku, kiedy to Włochy dołączyły do istniejących pięciu rywalizujących krajów: Anglii, Szkocji, Irlandii, Walii i Francji. Zwycięzcy Mistrzostw są obecnie znani również jako Mistrzowie Europy.

Format jest prostą strukturą ligową, w której każdy zespół gra jeden raz. Od początku istnienia Six Nations, Francja wygrała Mistrzostwa pięć razy, Anglia trzy razy, Walia dwa razy, a Irlandia raz. Szkocja i Włochy nie wygrały jeszcze Szóstych Narodów. Wszystkie trzy ostatnie mistrzostwa wygrała Grand Slam, Francja w 2010, Irlandia w 2009 i Walia w 2008.

Ostatnie zwycięstwo w turnieju Anglia odniosła w 2003 roku, po wcześniejszych zwycięstwach w latach 2000 i 2001. Ostatni triumf Szkocji odniósł w ostatnim roku zawodów starej piątki narodów w 1999 roku.

Puchar Sześciu Narodów

W ramach Mistrzostw Sześciu Narodów inne trofea są również do zdobycia. Potrójna Korona przyznawana jest Anglii, Irlandii, Szkocji lub Walii, jeśli jeden z tych krajów wygra wszystkie mecze z każdym z nich. Puchar Kalkuty przyznawany jest zwycięzcom pomiędzy Anglią a Szkocją. The Millennium Trofeum nagradzać the zwycięzca między Anglia i Irlandia.

Zwycięzcy Mistrzostw Sześciu Narodów w rugby otrzymują obecnie trofeum mistrzowskie stworzone przez hrabiego Westmorlandu i po raz pierwszy wręczone Francji w 1993 roku.
